Thanks for your reply Hartmut. Unfortunately I don't see immediately how this
applies. The article talks about activating the Resource Manager for a text
login. I can see the use for this in getting user access to programs like
Xcd-roast, but not how it applies to maintaining my desktop icon location.
Is this a resource manager issue? Do I really need root access permissions
to maintain my user desktop? Doesn't seem right, somehow. Thanks for your
