No, leave everything installed, since some of those things still need to
interact with other stuff (I think). Either way, I'd leave that stuff alone.

What I meant was, once I tried to compile my own kernel to upgrade the one
in 8.0 IIRR, but when I rebooted, couldn't get the nvidia drivers (the latest
at the time) to work, and a bunch of other little niggly things. There were
plenty of folk trying to help me, but I think my brain got oversaturated, and
I just re-installed. There's plenty of people who can do this with no
problems, but it seems like I just can't get past a certain 'point' in
'learning and remembering' some things (like the biggest stumbling block to
me *now*, and back then, is having two kernels...my old original *and* the
new one placed in lilo or wherever, and what to write and stuff...it's just
one of those things for me, that until someone says something or I see
something, that'll 'click', and I'll go 'Ooooooohhhhhh, so *that's* what I'm
supposed to do!'. ADD sucks. If ya got kids, check 'em while they're young,
so they don't bumble their way through school and come out idiots and will
be able to do anything they want!). Sorry...got sidetracked, an all too often
    side-affect for me.

Glad you got it working though.
