      Hiya gang,

This is what I'm (hoping) to do- I'm going to go ahead and wipe out the SuSE
8.0 partition on my second hdd that holds W98 and SuSE 8.0 (I keep W98 just
for a couple of games...can't afford WineX at the moment).
What I'm going to do, is do an LFS installation, so that maybe I can get my
hands a little 'dirtier', and maybe understand some more of the 'inside'
workings of Linux...also because I don't want to screw up my *perfect*
running 8.2, by digging into 'it'.
I've got the LFS book and CD, a folder with almost 300MB of updated packages
than what's on the CD, and a few packages I just want to have once it's all
    done.
One of the packages I have that's 'newer' than on the CD or that SuSE 8.2
has, is the Reiserfs4. It's a tarball at the moment in that folder.
My question is this...when I go to format that partition, is there *any*
possible way to use the newer reiserfs4, instead of with YaST2, which has the
older type? Can I not untar the package, and use 'it' to format that
partition instead? Hopefully someone out there will see what I'm trying to
ask, and have a nice definitive 'yes' or 'no' (and maybe even a explanation
    with either answer, heh).
I'll sure appreciate any kind of help or pointers or 'lessons' on this.

Y'all take care and be good,

      John
