    Ok, let me see if I understand this at all. New mic records, but the
    resulting audio is very low. Old mic records like an old mic, but
    volumes are correct and ok. Change of plug from working mic to
    non-working mic results in low volume audio, same as original plug and
    recordings. I think that is about right from what you have written,
    correct?

    Ok and now you are still hunting for a settings problem in software? If
    I haven't missed anything from what you have written, I fail to see
    where your question/problem lies. It would seem you have
    solved/answered your own question with the things you have done thus
    far. Did I miss something or have you missed something?
