Soldering. It's not my thing anymore but I used to be a Naval electrician.

Yeah, it's turning out to be an entirely different problem. The computer mic
works and records at a good level without the "boost" on gamix, but it's a
poor quality sound simply because it's a cheap computer mic.

The good mic records at an extremely low volume (regardless of what type of
plug mono/stereo is used), but sounds absolutely beautiful with "boost".
Sounds excellent with "boost" but when recording it ignores the boost and
    records at a low level.

So basically the problem is... how can I record the mic so it'll be as high of
a volume as it is with "boost" on gamix? The good mic isn't made for
computers, so it needs an amplifier like "boost" on gamix amplifies it.

Is there any way possible to record the result with boost, or am I going to
have to buy some kind of external amplifier and use it as a line in? Just
seems like if gamix "boost" option can amplify it, there should be a way to
capture the outpur of the mic after it's been "boosted".

    Thanks,
    Joe
