I have SLES 7 installed with Kernel 2.4.7 and am having some problems
when trying to run the Lansafe UPS monitor daemon.

Weeks ago, I had installed and verified Lansafe III and then Lansafe V.
I left a working Lansafe V daemon running on the system. I know it was
    working, but yesterday, I noticed
that I did not see any evidence of it running, so I tried to re-start
the program. I got a segmentation fault. I uninstalled the software, and
then re-installed it. The installation reported no
errors, but attempting to start the daemon produces the segmentation
fault. I un-installed again, then removed anything referring to the
software from rc.config and inittab. I installed
a fresh download of Lansafe III, (which had previously worked), but get
a segmentation fault with it as well.

It seems that something has changed with my system, and I wonder if
anyone might have experienced something like this. In the period of time
between being able to run Lansafe
and now, I have been working with Samba, and I have also tried
(unsuccesfully) to change from BSD printing to CUPS.

I would greatly appreciate any advice as to what might possibly be
different in the system that could cause such a problem.

    Thanks.

    Mat
