Folks,
I use Matlab quite a bit and the other day, I
happended
to do a top to see what was going on on my SuSE 8.0
machine and 'top' indicated all my 512MB of ram was
used up and an additional 20MB of swap was being used.
I promptly quit my Matlab job and waited a few minutes
till 'top' showed the machine was idling at 98.7 (or
so) % with no real user process other than daemons
and what have you running.
What concerned me was 'top' still showed 512BG of ram
being used and some swap as well.
My question is is this a bug in 'top' or is memory
management really that screwed up with PCs ?
Any insight?
Thanks,
Babu
