    Hello

I have run into problems trying to upgrade from Suse 7.3 on Compaq
Proliant 1600 (with Smart2-RAID). Both Suse 8.1 and 8.2 refuses to upgrade
    or install.

8.2 seems to have bad kernel included on the CD as it does not recognise
the Smart2-RAID at all, but fresh floppy images from ftp.suse.com works
    fine.

There are many ways YaST2 fails the installation process, depending
installation method etc. For example default CD-boot installation hangs
    with Firewire detection.

No matter what, YaST2 in both 8.1 and 8.2 crashes at least when detecting
    the existing partitions that are:

    /dev/ida/c0d0p5 swap swap defaults 0 0
    /dev/ida/c0d0p6 / reiserfs defaults 1 1
    /dev/ida/c0d0p1 /boot ext2 defaults 1 2
    /dev/ida/c0d0p7 /data reiserfs defaults 1 2

Any idea how to sort out the reason for this?

    Cheers,
