I'm not sure how to help you here. When I installed 3Ware card and array I
didn't start with one old drive with data and one new one for mirror and try
to put them into a mirror raid setup. I started with an IDE drive that was the
boot drive and added the card and Raid Array - which became a SCSI drive to the
    OS.

But if your old drive is IDE and it was your boot drive before, and you installed
that drive plus a new one on the 3Ware card then your boot device is no longer going
to be /dev/hd? It will be a /dev/sda? or /dev/sdb? ( scsi device ) etc.

Maybe you could use the Resuce Mode from the SuSE CD to fix your boot device setting?
Or if you can do it, just insert the SuSE install CD and do the install from scratch?
