I don't find it strange -- probably means that the mfg didn't test it
yet with 8.2 but did with 8.0 and 8.1.
It costs something to get listed...

There are a couple of issues here and I will show my ignorance
real fast -- even so here is my take on it.

my mouse hung on my initial install of 8.0 --
I got around that using a command line manual install
and setting it to the simpliest mouse (ie PS/2)
later I installed some patches and my 3-button mouse works great --

that experience and what I read on the lists suggested to me
that you try removing your USB Firewire or Floppy Disk Drive
and then after OS is installed, add them.

You didn't say that you tried that --
all you said was you went out and bought RedHat.

RedHat has a way of getting around that -- that worked for your
    config -- super :)
(We use RedHat for our firewall)

if you want to try SuSE again -- go for it --if not
I am sure you can give away or sell your SuSE CD's.
(If you decide to try SuSE I am sure others on this list
who are running 8.2 can help -- the reason I replied
was I noticed no one else had and I had an idea...

namely disconnect your USB device and start the install
then after the OS was installed, add them back.

How about a box with a bad mother board,
flacky power supply and dusty fans with bad bearings??? :)

I think in that case even RedHat would have problems.

    Freiendly Greetings,
