I don't know about kde, this is just a more general solution.
There are 2 well known utilities to capture windows in X.
The 2 I'm most familiar with are:
import (from ImageMajick) and xwd read "man xwd"
Both of these when run will turn the mouse cursor to a crossahairs,
which you then click on the desired window. Click on the desktop
for whole screenshot. Then you will hear a beep, and the file is saved.
To connect these commands to the Print Screen button, the only thing
I've seen is xbindkeys
