    James,
When you say that you can ping the card, but nothing outside, what
exactly do you mean? Can you ping your Netgear router 192.168.0.1 or
    your modem or your ISP?

When you try and ping the router what is the error message. If the
error says the "Network is Unreachable" then your problem is probably
with the DHCP set-up. Did you enter "dhcpcd wlan0" before you tried to
    ping.

The information you have provided above indicates that this pcmcia card
is not the only computer that is accessing the router, unless you have
fixed the IP at 192.168.0.4. Can your other computers access the
Netgear router and the internet. Have you used one of the other
computers and mozilla to set up the router and particularly the wireless
set-up menu. Until you get a connection between the pcmcia card and the
router it would be easiest if you
    - make sure the WEP is turned off,
    - make sure that the pcmcia card and the router are using the same
    ESSID,
    - make sure the router will accept new wireless connections,
    - make sure that the router and pcmcia card are both using the same
    mode.

My limited wireless knowledge is guessing the since wlan0 has an IP of
19.2.168.0.4 that pcmcia and router are exchanging information at some
level, you just need to clean up the interface.
