==========================
Darrell,
Nobody has built the xsane lib for the new Gimp yet, so Xsane will not
work presently because of the missing lib that Gimp 1.2.x installs from
your SuSE discs. I have though gotten kooka to work ok, but I also use
the IScan software for the Epson scanner provided by the Epson folks.
Gimp 1.3.x sets up to use that fine from the program. Although it
doesn't scan into the program directly, you can use it from the program
to acquire an image.
If you plan to use xsane, then you'll have to remove Gimp 1.3.x and
install 1.2.x, but if you can get the IScan software, I have it, but
not sure it will work with your model. You can look here:
http://www.epkowa.co.jp/english/linux_e/lsd_e.html
for the software and your model.
