I use Trillian for this. It's windoze software but it works perfectly
with wine--and--it can work with yahoo, msn, aim, icq, and has a
built-in irc client. You can see all your contacts from every service
in one list. If you're not violently opposed to spending a little cash
($20), the crossover plugin includes support (I mean actual support) for
this as well as almost every interesting IE plugin. Otherwise, it
should work fine with the cvs wine too.
