I've noticed that you have posted another problem on the list which boils down
to this. Your problem is not with Evolution or Gnome. It is with connecting
    to your ISP.

So you cannot connect to your ISP using your external modem, but you can
connect when using windows on the same hardware?

Assuming this is correct, then we need to know:
    1) What external modem you have
    2) What happened when you setup the modem using Yast2
    3) What settings did you enter in the dialog
