    This is called kdm. It uses the config file
    /etc/opt/kde3/share/config/kdm/kdmrc. Check this out. Did you run
    ldconfig and SuSEconfig after upgrading. This will correct some
    permissions stuff, update the kdmrc file if you haven't edited it, etc.
