Running X is going to push your video card (and maybe other hardware) a
lot more than a console. I suspect your Power Supply. A crashing X
doesn't normally reboot the system. A marginal PS getting overloaded
does. What size is your PS? Would it be possible to use another PS to
test? HTH.
