    Yes, as it happens, I saw that SDB article not long after posting my reply.
    But, as I was about to post to that effect, I also saw a post by Patrick
    Shanahan subject Re: [SLE] Crash has trashed init 5/startx [SOLVED]
    where it appears that it (SUSE9.0) does indeed reference ~/.xsession.
