I have a Palm Zire and I've been trying to use the Linux programs kpilot and
jpilot with it. The results have been disappointing:

    1. Kpilot consistently fails when trying to sync the datebook database, though
    it syncs the address database.

    2. Jpilot is very inconsistent about recognizing the connection. It sometimes
    does and sometimes doesn't.

The basic connection is clearly there, but I wish I knew how to get it to work
consistently. Generally the sequence I've been using is:

    1. Plug in the unit and turn it on.
    2. Start up the program.
    3. Tell the program to do a sync.
    4. The program says "press the hotsync button". So I press the button on the
    unit.

Sometimes jpilot actually does the right thing, but more often it gives an
error. Clearly the basic setup is right since I am getting some
communication with both kpilot and jpilot.

Any suggestions about how to tame these beasts?
