Lots of people had this problem on 7.3 with a 2.4.10 kernel. The first step is
to update it. You can get a newer kernel from
ftp://ftp.gwdg.de/linux/suse/ftp.suse.com/suse/i386/update/7.3/kernel
or from another mirror closer to you
