One can use two applications at the same time, if one uses arts, and the
applications are kde applications. For instance, I'm now playing with JuK
and kde can still play alerts. In windows, all programs are windows programs
and thus they can easily share the device through the common windows.

So, we have a choice between these options:

      A. Use only KDE applications, sharing through arts.
      B. Try to convince the driver implementors, to implement sharing in the
driver, something like "splicing" two sound devices together into one output,
    only in software.
      C. Buy another sound card, for use as a secondary device.

      Tough choices, I know... :-)
