    Barry,

Thank you, but sorry, though I did my best:
Neihter rlogin nor rsh were found in /etc/init.d

Searching through my system for rlogin and rsh these were found:

    /usr/bin/rlogin
    /usr/bin/rsh

These program files rpm version 017-431 are certainly only clients
parts. I could not find any server parts on my SJDS/SLES8.1 CDs

I tried to download and install rsh-server-v.017-291.i586.rpm and
version 017-350, but didn't succeed to install them (conflicts).
My SuSE 9 Pro media contain rsh-server-v.017-451.i586.rpm, but this was
    too new for 8.1.

I installed the latter with Yast on my SuSE 9, and afterwards I could
find rsh and rlogin in the superserver /etc/xinetd.d on that system.

As root I tried to start them manually (./rlogin start) but got
permission denied. Maybe it have to be configured first. I also tried
with Yast -> Network services (initd) but couldn't see rsh or rlogin or
    how to enable them.

Further suggestions what to do to get and install rsh-server installed
    on SJDS/SLES8.1?
