Just what do you expect from any group? That they would welcome someone who deliberately flouts their group norms of behaviour? That they should welcome someone who wants to join the group but says "Hey, I don't like the way you do things, and anyway who are you to tell me what to do?".
This really is a very simple matter: most Linux groups use plain text and bottom posting in replies. They also expect sensible editing/removing of previous posts to leave just the minimum to indicate the subject and give continuity to the thread.
As for your first sentence- well, you said it!
