[SLE] KDE menu editor doesn't work - SuSE 9.0

    I've been trying to make some changes to my KDE desktop menu, using the
    KDE menu editor. While I can select and change the various items with
    the editor, they don't appear to be saved, after closing the editor.
    I've tried this on two different computers and as a user and root.
    Nothing I've tried seems to work.

    Any ideas?
