[SLE] autocompletion question

I just noticed that if I type in a partial directory, and hit <TAB> the
matching directories/files shown include hidden ones. Is this supposed
to happen?
For example:
jim@ripley:~> ll .files/
.a .b .c
jim@ripley:~> ll .files/
