    can you paste your fstab file?
    What do you get when you do ls -l /<mountpoint> ?
    You're right about chmod not working! You'll see that with ntfs, smbfs
    and other
    filesystems. I suppose that the kernel developers think that if you mount such
    a filesystem with a certain user, you should try to use the permissions to
    allow other users access to it.
