    Doug,
    I'm not having a problem with .doc files, but I don't have a Mac .doc
    file to test here. As always with MS software, incompatibilities
    between versions and operating systems are not uncommon.

    I don't think that OO has a WP filter yet, although I didn't get a crash
    when trying to load one. There is a stand alone program you can use
    from the shell to convert those(WP) to OO format though, keeping most
    if not all the formatting. I usually use KWord for WP files now and
    just convert them there. If I'm not mistaken AbiWord will read WP
    files and allow you to save out differently. That would be worth a
    try. I guess the Mac, although based on a good OS now, still has it's
    quirks. ;o)
