    I have a proprietary machine that is x86 based that I am trying to install
    SuSE 9.1 on.

    <history>
    I was able to install 9.0 on this EXACT HARDWARE previously. The machine uses
    a USB network card. I wanted to update to 9.1 to get faster kernel and
    better USB support.

    I copied all 9.1 cd's to harddrive of said machine.
    I changed installation source to cd's on harddrive now.
    I ran "System Update" from Yast.
    Everything went as expected, then after install, kept rebooting when trying to
    access harddrive.
    I thought maybe there was something pointing to the old install in grub so I
    booted to the 9.1 CD 1.
    Even booting from the CD caused the machine to reboot as soon as it IDE
    channel gets probed. With Rescue, Install, and Manual Install it did the
    same thing.
    I took the 9.0 CD and WAS able to boot to it and run fdisk and wipe out all
    partitions on the harddrive.
    I tried all above methods to boot 9.1 CD again with same result. Always
    reboots when scanning the IDE channels.

    </history>

    <hardware>
    SiS chipset
    laptop harddrive
    old 8x cdrom drive
    6 serial ports
    on-board network card (that has no connector soldered to board)
    Award BIOS
    Pentium III 500
    128MB memory
    </hardware>

    Has anyone seen anything like this with the new 9.1?

    I would sure appreciate any help......

    Thanks in advance

    B-)
