I was able to take a picture of the screen right [exactly] before it reboots.
This IDE chipset is SiS5513:SiS630 Rev. 1
The last line is
ide0 at 0x1f0-0x1f7,0x3f6 on irq 14
I assume (from googling) that the next line it is trying or going to try would
be / is
ide1 at 0x170-0x177,0x376 on irq 15

FYI:
Since getting this info, I have tried
install safe-settings, text mode with
idebus=66 reserve=170,32 and still get same reboot.
And....
the 9.0 CD DOES work.
