A server with console hooked through a remote cabling unit
looses its mouse when the unit is switched off.
Same as switching a physical KVM away.
How do I get it back with the least disruption? Rebooting is not on.
Shades of: "You have moved your mouse, please reboot for changes to take effect..."
In the past I have always run SAX2,
it seems to get things going again but is a bit heavy-handed.
Re-starting X might do the same but looses me all my apps.
Is there some utility I can run or re-start to re-set the PS/2 interface?
(Why not: /etc/init.d/mouse reload?)
