I attempted fresh installs (twice) of 9.1 Pro on my system with a new
harddrive. Each time it starts loading packages from DVD it takes forever.
Several minutes for packages less than 1MB in size. After 2.5 hours only 8%
was loaded.
I aborted the install and then attempted an 8.2 Pro install on the same
hardware thinking maybe the HD was giving me problems and it just completed
loading all the packages from DVD in less than 1 hour.
Anybody know what might be happening here?
Any thing in the 2.6 kernel that might bog down with my hardware?
Hardware info:
Asus Mobo with Athlon XP 2200+
512MB Ram
ATI Radeon 7500
Maxtor 40GB (M$ XP)=hda
Sony DVD player = hdb
Maxtor 120GB, 8MB cache (new drive) = hdc
Plextor CDRW = hdd
Any help is appreciated,
Darrell
