Try PortLock Storage Manager
It is in Beta for Linux, however I haved used it with great success on
all of my SUSE 8 Enterprise Servers. Can Backup to FTP/DVD/CD/etc...

I t tried mondo w/8.2, and it was dicey, at best. In those days I had
two
distros --SuSE 8.2 & Mdk9; it worked fine on Mdk9. Perhaps it is
worth
another look, though.
