    This is because the person that created the "qt" package called it "qt3"
    instead of "qt" which is what skype is looking for.

    I am not a programmer but from what I have seen on this list in the past
    you might try installing the source package for skype and change the
    required package name for "qt" from "qt" to "qt3" in the spec file.
    Recompile and install your version and see if that takes care of the
    dependency. YMMV.

    Perhaps someone else on the list may have a better suggestion.
