Hello, I'm new here, and look forward to posting.

I have a dual AMD MP 2800 system, with 512 MB RAM. I used to run Fedora
Core 1, but switched to SuSE 9,1 pro (FTP install), as Fedora would freeze
up quite often. However, SuSE seems to be doing the same thing. This
normally happens after a couple of minutes when I try to play music. It
also happens when I do an SMB transfer of some large files from a server
on my network. The system just freezes; I can't move the mouse at all,
nor can I get any keyboard commands to stop the X server. I've had X
server crashes before where I can just SSH in and kill the server, but the
box doesn't even respond to SSH requests (I have SSH set up). I'm
thinking this might be a hardware problem, possibly a bad device driver?
I heard that some stability can be had by booting with the noapic kernel
option, but this has not helped. Which log can I look in to find any
possible clues? Anyone ever have a similar problem?

    Thanks in advance!

    Ben
