    Doc,
I am not seeing any of this behavior with 1.8a2/3 Mozilla Mail. I just
started it up to check against all your "bugs", but could not confirm
any. When I first went to the Sent folder to check, there were no
mails there showing, so I went to another folder, came back to the Sent
    folder and everything appeared normally.

I had no trouble moving my address book from my previous use of
Thunderbird/Mozilla, everybody was there. Usually Mozilla will just
use your previous books if they were already there in your
$HOME/.mozilla directory, but again, it pulled mine from
    the .thunderbird directory.

Lastly, any changes to my preferences have worked fine. On this, I
would check to be sure you have write permissions on your .mozilla
directory. Even if it appears it's ok, reset the permissions and try
    again.

If all else fails, rename the old .mozilla directory and let it create a
new one. Make your tests again, then slowly try to import things over.
