    There does not appear to be anything "invalid" about the above setup.
    The installers (not just SUSE) can get flaky with raid. I would like to
    suggest a different way to get your system up and running.

    Unplug your 2nd and 3rd drive and install SUSE. You can add the other
    drives and create the raid system afterwords. Basically, you add the
    other drives, make a raidtab file marking sda as failed, mkraid, format,
    copy the system, modify grub, reboot, then hotadd sda. I know it seems
    like a long way around ... but it did work for me.

    Check out these two links for some better descriptions. it was a
    combination of these that worked for me.

    You would have to modify the above raid arrangement somewhat, though. In
    order to install, you will need all three partitions on drive sda. In
    the above setup, if drive 2 goes, you lose your swap and maybe running
    apps and data. If drive 1 goes, you lose your boot and will have to use
    another boot method. Try this:

    sda sdb sdc
    md0 - 1G md0 - 1G md2 - 1G
    md1 - 16G md1 - 16G md1 - 16G
    md2 - 1G md3 - 1G md3 - 1G

    md0 = /boot = 1G
    md1 = / = 32G
    md2 = swap = 1G
    md3 = swap = 1G

    You should be able to continue regardless of which drive fails and sda
    has all the partitions needed for the install.

    HTH
    Louis
