It's a security feature. Programs that use X Window system use large
libraries and are more likely to be vulnerable. So they cannot, by
default use X. Use sux rather than su.

Probably because SuSE uses KDE by default. Try something else if you
want more speed. There's a trdae-off here, but at least you have the choice.

Keep a copy of the YaST file, e.g. /etc/X11Rc/XF86config.yast-save. Then
you can restore it if your version didn't work

By default, SuSE uses alsa.
