    Dear All,

I have Suse 8.2 pro with the latest mplayer. I have an Athlon xp 1400+
512megs of ram desktop. I could play dvds just fine whether a movie or a
homemade dvd until yesterday. Yesterday I burned a movix avi file of my
wedding onto a cd. The cd played great in my cdrecorder/cdrom drive as a
movix avi and played great on my laptop cdrom, too. :-) After I did all
this I decided to take another dvd I own to rip with acidrip but it
would not open. Now, my dvd drive will not open anything. It runs when I
turn on my computer but just will not respond to software now. When I
try to play a dvd with mplayer or gmplayer this is the error message I get:

    Playing dvd://1.
libdvdread: Could not open device with libdvdcss.
libdvdread: Can't open /dev/dvd for reading
    Couldn't open DVD device: /dev/dvd

I have combed thru mplayer forums and googled it up on this but still no
answers that have worked for me. I even updated my libdvdcss from
packman and I have the latest dvdread from packman. So far, this has not
changed anything. My dvd device is /dev/dvd. It is linked to /dev/cdrom
and is /dev/hdb. All was working fine before I played the movix movie. I
have used movix before without a hitch . I have been ripping my dvds
with acidrip without a problem, burning with K3b without a problem. Any
    suggestions will be greatly appreciated.

    Thank you,

    Marcia
