Just so you will know, if you want simply to test a font, or to limit
fonts to a particular user, for the use by xft apps you can simply copy
the TTF files at issue into ~/.fonts if /etc/fonts/fonts.conf is as it
should be. This may require you run fc-cache or log out and back in to
work.
