    Do you specify the file system with the '-t' option to mount? Like:

       mount -t iso9660 /dev/cdrom /mnt/mymountpoint

    ?

    Do you have an audio cable connection from your CD to your audio card? In the
    past I've use xmms with cdread on other distros without an audio cable.
