I got DVD-shrink 3.0 beta 5 to run under wine, was able to compress
a movie DVD to 4.4GB, and then burned the resulting directories to
a DVD-R using k3b. I am able to play it successfully with xine on Linux,
but mplayer hangs. Also, I cannot play this DVD-R on a standalone Sony DVD
player that's connected to my TV.

Would this be a region problem? I noticed that the default for DVD-shrink
is to set no region info, which AFAIK should be ok. Another thought is that
k3b actually created a ISO9660 filesystem on the DVD rather than a UDF
filesystem, and would this be a problem? I did check the "Use UDF
structures" button in k3b, but I am not sure it actually did the right
thing (it invoked growisofs to do its job).

Any tips on making a DVD that's playable everywhere would be appreciated.
