Easiest (for me) is to do the following with YaST:

Add the ftp.gwdg.de ftp site as an http installation source. You'll need to
specify the exact directory for the KDE supplemental "yast source" folder.

Move this installation source above your original DVD (or however you
installed SuSE) source, make sure that both sources are "On" and that your
    original installation source is available.

Finish with this YaST module and then launch the System Update module. On the
first screen, allow YaST to create a backup if you like. Then on the next
screen, choose "Update installed packages only" and uncheck "delete
unmaintained packages". Resolve any conflicts and after YaST finishes, log
off and log back in to get your new KDE.

    Have fun,
    Mark
