    It's actually not a complaint against Linux. It's a
complaint about nautilus running under Gnome 2.6.
There used to be a config option to let nautilus know
whether you preferred to open files in a new window or
in the same window. That option is gone as well as the
navigation arrows at the top of the window. (Up, Back,
etc). Fortunately, filebrowser still works the way I
like but I would prefer a global config. Does anyone
know what happened to nautilus? As far as I can tell,
the new version is a giant step backwards.

I don't have Gnome 2.6, but there is many shortcomings
in 2.4 as below. Can you please tell me about them in
    version 2.6?

1- We cannot see the folder's size in properties.
2- The toolbar is not customizabe.
3- Panels in auto-hide mode appear late.

-What about its speed compared to earlier versions?

    Thank you for your notice,
    Bahram Alinezhad,
