    What you could do, is ping for a known IP address at home and if not
    found, shut down eth0 and restart in dhcp. You might also be able to
    see if the dhcp client returns an error, if it can't find a server and
    then switch to static. Another way, is to use profiles. You'd use one
    profile for home and one for dhcp. You can then add the profiles to
    your boot menu, and make your selection at boot time.
