No, it is not, it was generated when you ran depmod on 9 November at 14:09.
That explains why you don't see any difference after running depmod.
The original modules.dep from kernel-default-2.6.8-24.3.i586.rpm has the size
281106 bytes and timestamp 2004-10-26 11:49:54.
To verify it, run the command "rpm -qlp --dump kernel-default-2.6.8-24.3.i586.rpm |grep modules.dep"
This is what I'm getting:
/lib/modules/2.6.8-24.3-default/modules.dep 281106 1098816594 9081ca713f99651bb68ba2bb94a7db6c 0100644 root root 0 0 0 X
1098816594 = 2004-10-26 11:49:54
