    This is the same that I have in the package. 8 hours is the difference
    between PST and GMT.

    Then it confirms that depmod cannot generate the same modules.dep as
    provided by kernel-default-2.6.8-24.3.i586.rpm.

    Now I wonder, what depmod did SUSE use to build kernel-default-2.6.8-24.3.i586.rpm?

    Another oddity, if I run "rpm -V kernel-default" it reports no changes in
    the installed package, while a whole lot of files have been actually changed.

    Plot thickens...
