Turns out doing l /dev/apm_bios gives me the same results
You say you are using ACPI. Can you expand on how you do this?
Does this cause you monitor to go into standby or suspend mode?
My understanding APM is for laptops and ACPI is for desktops.
    I have a desktop.

    My complete ServerLayout sections is:
    Section "ServerLayout"
       Identifier "Layout[all]"
       InputDevice "Keyboard[0]" "CoreKeyboard"
       InputDevice "Mouse[1]" "CorePointer"
       Option "Clone" "off"
       Option "Xinerama" "off"
       Option "BlankTime" "20"
       Option "StandbyTime" "30"
       Option "SuspendTime" "40"
       Option "OffTime" "60"
       Screen "Screen[0]"
    EndSection

I added the "BlankTime .. thru .. OffTime" in hopes of getting
my monitor to go into standby mode.
