[SLE] K-mail problems

    Hello everyone:
            I'm experiencing some problems with Kmail
    under SuSE 8.2. I recently re-installed SuSE and
    everything seems to work except Kmail. I can
    even surf the internet but I haven't tried to
    download any files.
            The Kmail setting are identical to those
    on this machine (which is working properly).
            When I try to 'retrieve' my e-mail, I get:

                    Unknown host POP

            When I try to send mail, I get:

                    Unknown host SMTP

            plus some other information about the
    message remaining in the 'outbox' folder
    until the problem is fixed.
            Both machines go through a router and
    then a cable modem. I've set the old machine
    as 'stand alone' but, as it is able to connect to
    the internet, I don't see this as a problem.
            Any ideas most appreciated.
