I also have a problem with usb under SuSE 9.2, while this doesn't help
Bob with his problem, maybe someone help both of us.

I am running SuSE 9.2 on a Shuttle mv43n motherboard (VIA chipset) and
have run into a possible problem with the USB sub system. I am running a
USB Samsung printer and a USB Mustek scanner on this system and have had
no problems with it previously on SuSE 9.0 and SuSE 9.1.

The problem is intermitent but once it starts the only thing that will
clear it is a reboot. It initially shows up as a printer problem, print
jobs will spool to the queue, but the printer shows up as unavailable.
If I try a lsusb command, the command hangs and cannot be killed. I have
seen similar types of problems on unix servers when there have been
filesystem problems. The only fix at present is to reboot the system and
delete and reconfigure the printer. While trying to fault find the
problem when trying to cat file in the usb area in the proc filesystem I
    have had the same problem.

I have reverted to SuSE 9.1 and this problem doesn't occur.

I would appreciate any help on this problem. Thanks.

    Cheers, Barrie Hill
