hi all,
I have 2 fresh-installed suse 9.1 (i386) systems with all the updates
applied. Both of them have MozillaFirefox-1.0-4.3 on them, and on both of
them I cannot install any firefox extension.
When I choose Tools->Extensions, the Extensions windows will come out, which
redirect to the official mozilla/firefox website. When I choose an
extension and select "Install Now", the "Software Installation" windows will
come out. However, if I press "Install Now" button, nothing happens, and my
"extensions" window remain blank.
At the same time, the JavaScript console shows the following error:
Error: [Exception... "Component returned failure code: 0x80070057
(NS_ERROR_ILLEGAL_VALUE) [nsIRDFService.GetResource]" nsresult: "0x80070057
(NS_ERROR_ILLEGAL_VALUE)" location: "JS frame ::
file:///opt/MozillaFirefox/lib/components/nsExtensionManager.js ::
nsExtensionsDataSource_addDownload :: line 4040" data: no]
Source File: file:///opt/MozillaFirefox/lib/components/nsExtensionManager.js
Line: 4040

(yes, the error appears twice for every extension I tried to install).
I have googled this problem but none of the web page turned anything
helpful. I don't think this is about the versioning problem, but perhaps
some permission problem?
I tried to install/re-install firefox, with ~/.mozilla removed each time. I
also tried to run firefox as root when it is first installed (and fix to an
old but for firefox-pr) but that did not help either.
Any help is very much appreciated; I have struggled with this problem for a
few weeks now,
tia,
